Save the Squirrels!
Every year, we care for hundreds of orphaned and injured squirrels who come through our doors in waves, needing round-the-clock feedings and specialized care.
Right now, you may be noticing a lot more baby squirrels out and about...that’s because squirrels have two breeding seasons each year. The first litters are born in spring, and just when we think baby season is finally slowing down… a second wave of babies arrives in late summer and early fall. This is nature’s way of making sure more young survive.
For us, that means another sudden surge of tiny mouths to feed. Formula, avocados, nuts, and the staff time it takes to keep these little ones thriving all add up quickly. And it’s not just squirrels! The need across all species is rising. Last year, we admitted just over 7,500 wild animals. This year, we’ve already cared for more than 8,400… and the year isn’t over yet.
We’re raising funds to help cover these urgent needs and ensure these babies, and the many other wild patients we see, get the care they deserve!
