Golden Rule Services CEO and Founder Clarmundo Sullivan Honored with Black History Month Legacy Award for Excellence

Clarmundo Sullivan, founder, and executive director of Golden Rule Services (GRS), is set to receive a prestigious Black History Month Legacy Award of Excellence during the 36th Annual Sacramento Black History Month Black Expo. The awards ceremony, commemorating the 60th Anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, will take place on Saturday, Feb. 24, at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center in downtown Sacramento.

The Black History Month Legacy Award recognizes Sullivan's outstanding contributions to building equity and fostering opportunities within the Black community. Born and raised in Sacramento, Sullivan co-founded GRS in 2000 with a mission to address health, education, employment, and criminal justice disparities in BIPOC communities. GRS, celebrating its 24th year, has become a respected leader in HIV prevention and education services as well as Ryan White case management services.

GRS, a minority-based nonprofit, provides culturally competent programs and services to BIPOC and LGBTQ communities. The organization, under Sullivan's leadership, offers essential services such as HIV and STI prevention and testing, mobile testing, Case management services and community outreach to the unhoused population.

The Black Expo's theme, "Progress In Process," aligns with Sullivan's vision, celebrating Black Excellence and honoring those, like Sullivan, who have paved the way for justice and equal rights. Sullivan's advocacy extends beyond GRS, as he actively participates in HIV and STD advisory committees.

This award adds to Sullivan's list of recognitions, including the Cleve Jones HIV-AIDS Leadership Award in 2018 and the Heroes in Community Service award from the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors in 2019. Sullivan's unwavering dedication continues to impact lives and contribute to the ongoing journey toward justice and equality in the Sacramento community.
