Stanford Settlement Neighborhood Center is a private, nonprofit social service agency. Founded in 1936, its mission is to help build healthy communities through individual, family, and neighborhood services. As a settlement house, our agency is concerned with helping individuals make improvements to their own lives AND their community. Residents of Gardenland Northgate, North Sacramento, Del Paso Heights, and Natomas are eligible to use agency programs.

Children’s Program: Fostering resiliency in children who have been impacted by ACEs (adverse childhood experiences), increasing their success at school, at home, and in the community.

  • After School Groups; Summer Day Camp; and supportive services provided to 150 elementary school-aged children annually.
  • Children experience a sense of belonging and increased self-esteem, learn how to solve problems peacefully, and work together as a group.

Teen Center: Ensuring that teens have the support needed to excel in school and positively contribute to their community.

  • Drop-in center for teens during out-of-school hours; small groups; supportive services for 150 teens ages 12-17 years annually.
  • Teens have a safe place to be when school is out, with meaningful ways to participate, caring staff, and opportunities for leadership development and conflict resolution.

Senior Center: Supporting seniors in maintaining health and wellness so they may continue to live independently.

  • Drop-in center for seniors, with transportation, nutrition, wellness activities, socialization, and supportive services, reaching 300 seniors annually.
  • Seniors create and maintain connections with others, resulting in improved health and increased independence.

Our agency has been an anchor for those in need in our community for nearly 90 years. Your support of Stanford Settlement Neighborhood Center makes this work possible.

Mission

Stanford Settlement Neighborhood Center helps build healthy communities through individual, family, and neighborhood services.

Needs

1. Consider sharing time, talent, and treasure as a member of our volunteer Board of Trustees. If you've never served on a nonprofit board before, this is a great place to start.

2. Funding to sustain our Teen Center program, which helps teens stay IN school and OUT of trouble, in spite of the challenges they face.

3. Camperships for children to attend Summer Day Camp. Every year, 90+ children spend their summer days with us at McKinley Park and enjoy arts, crafts, sports, games, cooking, swimming, and more. At the same time, they learn how to make friends and keep them, solve problems peacefully, work together as a group, and create happy memories. Parents pay a sliding scale fee, and donations for camperships help defray the cost.

Equity Statement

As a settlement house, we work for social justice. We are dedicated to bringing about change on behalf of those who have been systemically oppressed. We stand in solidarity with our children, teens, seniors, and families.
