Stand Up Placer is dedicated to the empowerment of Placer County survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking as they heal from their trauma and create lives of strength and self-sufficiency. Incorporated in 1978 we have grown over the past 40 years, providing services under a number of different names and in 2012, adopted a name which is also our call to action: Stand Up Placer!

Today we are Placer County's primary provider of comprehensive services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking and their children, and significant others. Stand Up Placer provided services to 2487 individuals in 2018. We offered emergency shelter to 323 men, women, and children providing over 10,000 bed nights. In addition we provided housing for 163 men, women and children amounting to almost 35,000 safe bed nights in our transitional and rapid re-housing programs. Placer County continues to see a sharp rise in services provided to survivors. In 2015 we provided 20,925 services and in 2018 we provided 66,021 services for a three year increase of over 200%. Domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking cross all cultural and ethnic barriers. Survivors come from all walks of life, and they range in age from infants to seniors.

Stand Up Placer's goal is to provide a comprehensive array of services that help survivors to determine and achieve their own goals. Our major services include a 24-hour crisis line, emergency domestic violence shelter, emergency food and clothing, job readiness training and search assistance, financial mentoring and coaching, a children's advocate for safe house residents, individual, family, child and group therapy in the safe house and service offices, case management, legal advocacy, assistance, and court accompaniment, and a supportive housing program. Survivors who do not require emergency shelter access services at our Roseville and Auburn offices. We operate the Rape Crisis Center for Placer County, providing hospital accompaniment, advocacy, support and follow up for sexual assault victims through the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART). With the recent designation as one of ten agencies in California to serve as human trafficking service providers we have expanded our services and now offer a drop-in center for at risk trafficked individuals. To help create a stronger, safer community, we provide prevention programming for local schools, workplaces, and community organizations.
- Stand Up Placer's existing government grants primarily support specific programming objectives and minimally address the administrative and operating expenses and additional needs of existing programs.
- Unrestricted funding in the area of $1,000,000 would allow us to address these challenges.
- In addition, Stand Up Placer is seeking the support of community leaders of diverse backgrounds and experience to participate in the governance of the agency through service on the Stand Up Placer Board of Directors and development of our strategic plans for the future.
- Volunteer Recruitment: Approximately 50 additional volunteers are needed for our speakers' bureau, events, office, thrift boutique and direct services work, such as the crisis line, advocacy, and accompaniment. A crucial component in healing and empowerment of the survivors of domestic and sexual violence and their families, is the support from their communities. Volunteers who are willing to donate their time and gifts to the work we do can be the difference between life or death for the survivors we serve. Volunteers allow Stand Up Placer to: Empower Survivors. Save Lives.
Our top needs:
  1. Funding: Unrestricted - Coverage of gaps in client services left by restricted funding streams.
  2. Volunteers - Energetic and engaged volunteers to assist with client services, events and business operations.
  3. In-Kind Donations - Support for clients who are in need of clothing and basic household goods and to stock our Thrift Boutique to support client services, job training and the agency.
  4. Board Members - Energetic and engaged board members to bring fundraising and additional skills to the agency.
  5. Funding: Other - Matching funds to secure pledged government grants.
'Domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking are traumatic experiences. There is no typical survivor of domestic or sexual violence and no typical response from family members. Programming provided by Stand Up Placer reflects the diversity of our community and the diversity of their needs. Our trauma-informed services provide support for Survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking from emergency shelter, food and clothing to hospital accompaniment during a sexual assault examination. The Stand Up Placer service model is built to focus on empowerment of the individual we serve, building upon the strengths they each bring to the table. The staff and volunteers of Stand Up Placer are committed to a support role, the survivors we serve are the heroes of their own stories.'
