Visions of the Future Mentoring Services is a public benefit, non-profit organization that is centered around serving youth in Sacramento, CA. Three primary objectives that drive our vision are providing our young people with Educational Attainment, Economic Hope and Opportunity, and Enriched Living Experiences. These principles along with Community Service are the pillars of our organization and at the core of our mission to serve students and families from all schools and walks of life, with an emphasis on students and families from underserved schools and communities.

Our program is Supportive, Preventive, Flexible, and Responsive. We believe the children are indeed the future, so we invest our Time, Dependability, Integrity, and Love into them and our programs. We are an organization firmly planted in the grassroots of our community. This is our life's work, building programs, coalitions and partnerships that provide young people with rich and stimulating experiences that promote growth and development.

Mission

Our mission is to provide Educational Attainment, Economic Hope and Opportunity, and Enriched Living Experiences to at-risk youth and students in Sacramento, CA.

Needs

Our program needs unrestricted funds in order to provide our comprehensive mix of services including tutoring, mentoring, community service opportunities, career planning, social skills and character development to young people in largely underserved communities. Funds are needed to recruit, retain and train our Tutors and Mentors, purchase supplies for distance learning and development activities, and maintain crucial technology, software and subscriptions for our programs during this pandemic. An increase in funding will expand our capacity to serve more youth while maintaining our gold standard.

Our organization is a volunteer driven organization. We are continuously seeking volunteer Tutors and Mentors to serve more youngsters. Our Visionary Academy tutoring program runs for 12 weeks twice during the school year, with 2-3 sessions per week during each 12-week period. During these unprecedented times we also have Mentors virtually meet with Mentees for check-ins and activities at least 4 times per month. The more volunteers we retain, the more youngsters we can serve in our Visionary Mentoring program and expand our tutoring services to more students that are in need.

Visionary Academy tutoring program: In order to provide the highest quality tutoring for our students we utilize a variety of materials to aide their learning. In-kind donations that support this effort include but are not limited to: Tablets, laptops, reading books, math manipulatives, graph paper, pencils, highlighters, sharpies, timers, index cards, flash cards (multi subject), trays, caddies, lap desks, pencil boxes, pocket folders, learning games (Scrabble Slam, Bananagrams, Zingo, Yahtzee), snacks (nonperishable options to pair with our fresh fruit and vegetables for weekly snack care package deliveries such as crackers, pretzels, dried fruit, raisins, granola bars, juice boxes, bottled water).

Mentoring: We value the ability to provide Enriching Experiences for our youth through our Mentoring program. In-Kind donations to support this include but are not limited to: Restaurant gift certificates, virtual museum passes, Event tickets (movie passes, virtual events and activities).
