Needs
Funds for Food: Hay and grain are fed to our horses every day. Feeding our horses is our biggest expense and is ongoing, the monthly cost exceeds $4,300 for 22 horses. Our weekly hay cost is $1,028 at $26 a bale, special feeds for senior horses $70 and necessary supplements $225. We feed quality hay or alfalfa to reduce veterinary costs.
Trainer: We are in need of specific funding for hiring a trainer for our untrained horses and the yearlings that have not yet been started. Our dream is to be able to afford a part-time trainer for the horses to get them ready for adoption sooner and help more horses at risk.
We also ask that you hold mini education sessions to teach about natural horsemanship.
In-kind services of an Attorney to prepare legal forms and give advice; In-kind services for a tractor and tractor work; and sand and gravel for round pen.
Veterinary Expenses: New horse intake exams, Vaccinations twice a year, unexpected injuries/illnesses.
Farrier Expenses: Hooves trimmed every six to seven weeks and occasional horseshoes, if medically required.
Volunteers: We welcome volunteers, what you don't know about horse safety, working with horses, we will teach you through our orientation program as well as on-going buddy systems in place. If you have the time, we have a project for you!
