Sacramento Women's Chorus (SWC) has been a vibrant community chorus for over 30 years, bringing a wide variety of music to the Sacramento area. Our regular concert schedule reflects SWC's commitment to remain true to our original principles and our mission to provide women a safe place to raise our voices in song in service to issues of vital importance to all women. Since our first performance in 1987, at a benefit event for a women's wheelchair basketball team, SWC has come to be a recognized part of the activist arts community, SWC can be counted on to sing at events for women's issues, equal rights for all, peace and justice, and LGBT pride events.
SWC sang at the 2017 Women's March in Sacramento, Women's History events, Take Back the Night rallies, the California Commission on the Status] of Women, the California State NOW Conference, the YWCA, WEAVE (Women Escaping A Violent Environment), CARES (Center for AIDS Research, Education and Services), the Gay and Lesbian Community Center, and the Girl Scouts. We have participated in events with the Placerville Season for Nonviolence, World AIDS Day, PFLAG's Services of Remembrance to honor victims of violence against gay, lesbian, and transgender persons, and remembrance services with the Kaiser Hospice programs. We have sung in support of breast cancer research, AIDS awareness, marriage equality, Francis House programs for the homeless, and Mary House services for homeless women and children. For three years, we participated in the former Sac Sings Festival. We have performed at the California State Capitol Rotunda during the Holidays. SWC is proud to continue our tradition of creating partnerships which serve our larger community through the gift of our music.
