Rose Family Creative Empowerment Center

A nonprofit organization

The Rose Family Creative Empowerment Center Executive Director has a successful 30-year track record of providing access to high quality and life-changing programs, services, and enrichment opportunities that help build the confidence and capacity of communities to overcome historical predictors of underachievement and gang-involvement including: poverty, substance and physical abuse, food insecurity, and other traumatic experiences.

Our work to meet this commitment is rooted in a deep understanding of the community's needs and strengths. We strive to create access to a responsive and broad portfolio of high quality programs and services that promote these pursuits. These programs include: the Black Child Legacy Campaign, an effort to reduce African-American Child Deaths; after school and summer programs, visual and performing arts; family empowerment programs; and resident services at affordable housing apartment complexes.

Mission

Rose Family Creative Empowerment Center's mission builds on our commitment to empower individuals and families by building their capacity to be self-sufficient and contributing members of their community. The Center strives to create environments where arts and education connect, learning is stimulated and students and their families are exposed to experiences that promote their confidence, self-determination, creative problem solving, collaboration, communication, and sense of civic duty.

Needs

Capacity Building: Funding is needed to help support the overall mission of the Rose Family Creative Empowerment Center. In order to meet our full potential, a strong infrastructure is key. This funding will support our administrative funding needs. We are currently in need of additional support staff as our program offerings grow.

General Program Gap Funding: Rose Family Creative Empowerment Center operates after school programs and summer programming at five school sites in South Sacramento.

Funding of these programs come primarily from grants and in-kind support, however 100% of the program costs have not yet been funded as the number of participants we serve are greater than the funding supports long-term.

We are looking for additional funding for these programs to support long-term sustainability and to expand program services as we have waiting lists at all of our sites.

Through our work with the Black Child Legacy Campaign, we provide family support services to families in need who live in the Meadowview and Valley Hi Communities.

These support services include the provision of the following items: Bus passes, gas cards, laundry cards, food, motel vouchers, clothing, furniture, diapers, and other household items.

Donations of these services and household items will greatly help the families we serve.

We are continuously seeking volunteers to support our efforts. We continuously seek out mentors, tutors, and community members who share our vision and passion to serve families in these under-served neighborhoods.

Our agency has grown such that we have out-grown our current office space. We are in need of a larger facility so we can better provide resources and services to the families we serve.

Equity Statement

To provide access to high quality and life-changing programs, services and enrichment opportunities that help build the confidence and capacity of communities to overcome historical predictors of educational underachievement gang-involvement including: poverty, substance and physical abuse, food insecurity, and other traumatic experiences.
