About our Nonprofit
Pathways to Possibilities is a nonprofit organization empowering adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) through inclusive classes and support. Our programs build confidence, life skills, and independence while fostering social connection and community.
Founded in 2017, we focus on people with high support needs, offering personalized and small-group learning that meets clients where they are. We believe everyone deserves a safe space to grow.
Why Our Work Matters
Adults with IDD often face isolation, limited opportunities, and ongoing care needs. California serves over 600,000 people with IDD, with 30,000 in the Sacramento area alone. Despite existing supports, a critical gap remains in services for adults with high support needs.
Pathways to Possibilities helps fill that gap. We provide low-barrier access to classes and community for those often excluded elsewhere.
Our Journey and Impact
We started in 2017 with small projects like concession stands and handmade goods. Today, we serve dozens of clients weekly from our office center in Roseville.
Our classes include fitness, cooking, arts and crafts, office tasks, and community contribution projects. Clients create meaningful items that are donated to community partners, including dog blankets for the animal shelter and holiday baskets for local nursing homes—helping participants build purpose and connection through giving back.
Programs and Services
Pathways to Possibilities offers a wide range of classes that help adults with developmental disabilities build real-life skills, confidence, and connections. Our small-group classes (max 8 clients) are designed to support individuals with high support needs across five core areas: life skills, social development, safety, community participation, and personal growth.
Sample offerings include:
Independent Living Skills: Cooking, budgeting, cleaning, and safety
Social and Communication: Conversation, group decision-making, and cultivating friendships
Creative Expression: Arts & crafts, soap making, seasonal projects
Community Involvement: Participating in community contribution projects that support local nursing homes, meals on wheels, and animal shelters.
Structured Work Simulations: Guided work simulations that help participants practice real-world employment skills—such as customer service, teamwork, and task responsibility—across a variety of work environments.
In 2025, we expanded our program with new classes in:
Each class is designed to build confidence, purpose, and a sense of belonging—one class at a time.
Looking Ahead to 2026
In January, we moved into our own dedicated space. For the first time, we have a setting that's entirely ours. No shared hallways, no interruptions during instruction. Just a calm, consistent environment where our clients can learn, connect, and thrive.
This new flexibility sets the stage for what comes next: the launch of the Pathways to Employment Academy, expanded programming, and continued improvements to our curriculum. We're building toward a future where even more individuals can access the support they need to reach their potential.
Your donation today helps us grow access, inclusion, and belonging—one class at a time.
