New Morning Youth & Family Services, founded in 1970, is the oldest nonprofit organization dedicated to serving youth in El Dorado County. To meet the evolving needs of our community, New Morning operates the only Emergency Children's Shelter in the county, providing refuge for runaway, homeless, and youth in crisis. Additionally, we are one of the largest providers of counseling services for children on the Western Slope of El Dorado County.
Our programs address a broad range of needs, including managing a Latino Outreach initiative to support marginalized Latino families, offering a foster youth program to help young people transition to independence, providing substance use treatment for children and youth, and delivering mental health services for victims of crime.
New Morning’s mission is to prevent, intervene in, and treat issues affecting children and youth, including abuse, depression, severe family conflict, delinquency, and substance use. Left unaddressed, these challenges can lead to academic failure, removal from the home, or involvement in the juvenile justice system.
While we all hope children are safe, nurtured, and shielded from harm, the reality can be starkly different. Many children face adversity that places them at risk for developing serious problems. These issues underscore the urgent need for our services and our commitment to fostering hope, resilience, and healing for the youth in our care.
