KNOW provides clinical-based therapy including cognitive behavior, reality-based therapy, and spiritual components which are the basis of the workshop process. Planned activities include presentations, briefings, workshops, peer-to-peer groups, and trainings on a weekly basis and designed to raise self-esteem, eliminate the barriers of the stigma of mental illness, introduce mentors/partners who have lived experience in homelessness, incarceration, racial discrimination, and mental health issues who aid in each participant's successful recovery.
KNOW integrates trauma-informed approaches throughout health, behavioral health, and related systems and addressing the behavioral health needs of youth (0-25), battered women, youth and adults exiting correctional facilities, and senior citizens with a goal of reducing the pervasive, harmful, and costly developmental and financial impact of violence and trauma. By recognizing the relationship between exposure to trauma, violence, mental health disorder, and neglect in the early years of life and substance abuse, and behavioral and affective disorders later in life we can implement comprehensive plan including evidence-based programming that addresses the needs in the African American/Black communities.
In 2020, KNOW created a structured mentorship program for youth. This required the youth to carry out community service by the Sacramento Juvenile Service. Know collaborated with the faith-based community together an individual Treatment Plan and schedule. KNOW provided psychological health and support while in the structured environment of the food bank.
