Impact Teen Drivers

Each year in the United States, 4,000 teens lose their lives in car crashes and an additional 400,000 are seriously injured. These 100% preventable crashes affect not only the teens involved, but entire communities- their families, friends, classmates, teammates, teachers, coaches, health professionals, and first responders. 75% of these crashes are not caused by driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but by everyday choices. Behaviors such as using a mobile device, adjusting the radio, applying makeup, or chatting with friends can become deadly when done behind the wheel of a car.

To address these far-reaching consequences, Impact Teen Drivers was founded by the California Association of Highway Patrolmen, California Teachers Association, and California Casualty in 2007 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization engage, educate, and empower teens and teen influencers on the dangers of reckless and distracted. Our vision is to create a widespread culture shift among teens and their influencers where reckless and distracted driving are recognized as unacceptable behaviors and outside of the norm. Through consistent and powerful Impact Teen Drivers education efforts, teens, parents, and community members will gain a true understanding of the connection between careless decisions behind the wheel and the consequences of being involved in a car crash-whether as a driver or passenger.
