Humane Society of The Sierra Foothills Inc

In 2007, a group of animal welfare advocates convened to identify areas where animals were under-served in Placer County. Those initial 'founders' quickly came to the realization that animal cruelty investigations required dedicated, trained individuals to remedy unfavorable animal conditions, educate the public on the proper way of caring for animals, and when education failed, have the ability to seek justice for abused and neglected animals. Those same founders realized that a humane society with court-certified Humane Officers would help prevent animal cruelty. HSSF was incorporated in 2008 with this concept in mind.

Mission

Since 2008, HSSF has successfully worked to promote the well-being of animals. As we prepare to celebrate our fifteenth anniversary, we continue with our mission to prevent animal cruelty, abuse, and/or neglect by educating the public as to proper animal care, investigating complaints, and enforcing anti-cruelty laws of the State of California.

Needs

When animals are rescued, they are most often in need of medical attention, behavior modification, and/or rehabilitation. HSSF needs specific areas at their facility to be developed that will be suitable to accommodate a wide variety of rescued animals.

Animals with special medical needs require ongoing veterinarian care and treatments.

When a rescue operation is necessary, different modes of animal transportation, large and small veterinarian specialists, and animal handlers must be assembled to assist. This can become quite expensive, especially with the larger rescue operations.

The HSSF thrift store and bookstore operations can use extra volunteers during busy times. Net profits from these stores help animals.
