Needs
Veterinary care: Many of our horses come into our program with minor physical issues, ranging from temporary lameness to mild chronic lameness. Veterinary care costs range from simple examinations, and conservative treatments, to radiographs, ultra-sounds, and surgery. Costs can range from less than $100 to well over $5,00-10,000, with an average for most things of $500.
Sponsorship: Many of our horses need time in rehabilitation or stall rest before they can begin in training or be adopted out. And some horses are not a good fit for adoption and remain on the property with sanctuary status. The care for each horse ranges from $300-500 per month.
Hay/Feed: Hay and feed are a large expense on the ranch, financial donations towards hay purchase are greatly appreciated. As are physical donations of alfalfa hay, oat/forage hay, grass hay.
Horse Training: In order to help horses become suitable candidates for successful adoption, many need training. The cost of teaching the horses (training) ranges from those horses with issues, needing to have behaviors re-directed into more appropriate and acceptable behaviors, to those horses in transition or in need of refreshing, is an ongoing expense. As in every job, continued education helps these horses become more adoptable, or keep them willing partners in our riding programs.
Student Scholarship: Help sponsor youth in our Horsemanship program. The cost per student for 52 lessons or one lesson per week is $1,820. This helps defer the cost of care of the horses, feed, equipment, and insurance. We can accommodate up to eight more students per week for a total of $14,560 for a year.
Volunteers: Growing our volunteer base is always important and with more volunteers, we can increase our ability to provide more to our adaptive horsemanship program, and our horse adoption program. Please inquire to learn more info@hope4horses.com
