In 1992, Folsom opened its community center and a group of like-minded citizens looked into joining the national community concert movement and forming an association to bring quality live music performances to Folsom. Folsom Concert Association's first full concert season was in 1995-1996. Each year since then, FCA has offered at least five concerts to its subscribers who come from the surrounding communities.
Recognizing the importance of bringing music to both youth who may not have the opportunity to hear great music and to seniors who can no longer attend concerts, FCA established outreach programs to fill this need and is now expanding these outreach programs to include a music and memory program for seniors in dementia care. FCA has also facilitated the donation of musical instruments to local schools, helping them to maintain their music programs. Carrying the idea further, FCA provides the opportunity for youth to showcase their talent at our performances. In addition, FCA established a program to provide scholarships to students from the surrounding communities who plan to pursue performing arts as a part of their college study.
Folsom Concert Association's Mission is to present an affordably priced, annual musical performance season to Sacramento Region residents. Additionally, we seek to foster an appreciation of music through free outreach programs that bring professional musicians to students in K-12 schools and to senior citizens. We hope to encourage the next generation of musicians through scholarships awarded to graduating high school seniors who plan to pursue a performing arts education.
