Fairytale Town

Dating back to 1959, Fairytale Town has welcomed families from all over the world through Humpty Dumpty's gate into an enchanted realm. Today, we are welcoming our fourth generation of visitors into two and a half acres of magic and fun that have stood the test of time. A nonprofit outdoor children's museum, Fairytale Town is home to three-dimensional play sets, or exhibits, that are based on favorite fairytales and nursery rhymes. Fairytale Town also boasts a family of rare and miniature breed animals, interactive learning gardens, and two performing arts stages. Significant physical improvements and innovative programming have established Fairytale Town as an important destination that promotes family quality time, creativity, imagination, learning, and fun. Now more than ever, children are bombarded with constant consumer advertising and shock-value entertainment in an increasingly busy world. However, families still have a safe and innocent place all their own at Fairytale Town, where all ages can enjoy gentle play and creative stimulation in a safe and colorful environment.

Mission

Fairytale Town's mission is to promote the imagination, creativity, and education of children. Our vision is a world where all children flourish, in growth and in happiness, realizing their full potential through the profound benefits of free play.

Needs

The "Free Play" Initiative: Making sure that all children, regardless of background, can enjoy the magic of Fairytale Town, this initiative includes free admissions to Fairytale Town programs such as: live music theater in the Sacramento Children's Theater program, Free Admission Days at the park, year-round free admission for children with disabilities, and free admission for active-duty military families.

Support for our Furry Friends: Children love meeting the sheep, pigs, goats, parrots, cow, donkey and more at Fairytale Town! Gifts here will support the upkeep of these barnyard animals beloved by children.

The Sacramento Adventure Playground: From building forts to dissembling appliances, this hands-on experience fosters physical creativity. The Adventure Playground is a free after-school youth development program for ages 6 to 15 located at the Maple Neighborhood Center in south Sacramento. At the Adventure Playground, children are given the tools and freedom to build and create things that reflect their own ideas and visions. Sacramento Adventure Playground is a satellite campus of Fairytale Town.

Invest in our Children's Theater: More than 10,000 children each year benefit from theater programs presented by Fairytale Town. These include a variety of productions for children and families throughout the year, including the Annual Puppet Festival for school groups held every Spring. One of the few indoor spaces in the park, the Children's Theater is also used for many of our summer FunCamps and educational programs, as well as being the primary rehearsal and performance venue for our youth drama group, the Fairytale Town Troupers.

The Sacramento Play Summit: Fairytale Town's annual conference that highlights the importance of play in child development and trains educators and caregivers to incorporate healthy play into daily and school life.
