Davis Schools Foundation (DSF) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting student well-being and enhancing the educational experience of all K-12 students in the Davis Joint Unified School District (DJUSD). DSF works in partnership with families, educators, school staff, and community members, and provides annual grants to DJUSD that bolster, support, and sustain district-wide student programs and services that would not be possible with public funds alone.

Since 2004, DSF has raised over $4.75 million to fund instructional aides, counseling services, computer labs, librarians, special education program specialist, music programs, outdoor education, and much more, thanks to the generous support of our donors. The founding members crafted a "Dollar-a-Day" concept for raising funds, urging supporters to contribute the equivalent of $1 a day for a year, or $365, to make sure that our children continued to receive an excellent public school education.

Our funding priorities include:

1. Mental Health and Counseling Services: Provide mental health programs and counseling services to enable students to thrive both inside and outside the classroom;

2. Equitable Opportunity and Access: Ensure all students have access to the resources and tools they need to develop 21st century skills for success and fulfillment;

3. Support for Educators: Equip DJUSD faculty and staff with the resources they need to continue providing high-quality education in safe and supportive environments.

Giving Activity

Mission

Engage the greater Davis community to mobilize resources and provide financial support to our local public schools, helping to ensure effective and equitable learning environments that emphasize social, emotional, and physical well being for all students.

Needs

Mental Health and Counseling Services: Student success and achievement cannot be solely defined by test scores or class grades. A child's social, emotional, and physical well-being forms the healthy foundation necessary for effective learning and school success as well as overall life satisfaction. DSF believes that mental health programs, counseling services, drug prevention programs, and related resources are essential to promoting positive mental health and improving school climate.

Equitable Opportunity and Access: When all students succeed, the entire community benefits. DSF is dedicated to funding programs and services that will promote the well-being of all DJUSD students with particular emphasis on those that will help close existing achievement and opportunity gaps and ensure equitable access to school resources and services.

Support for Educators: Teachers and school staff are the heart of a student's education. Davis educators provide students with an exceptional education, but they need and deserve adequate support and resources to help them realize their students' full potential. DSF is committed to providing financial support to enable DJUSD educators to teach in optimal conditions and environments for all students to learn successfully.
