$5,000 Goal

Colla Voce was created in 2005 by Artistic Director and Conductor Janine Dexter in response to the absence of a secular choral group in Auburn. The Colla Voce Chamber Singers present concert arts experiences twice a year with additional appearances at local fundraising events. The organization incorporated in 2008 and became a 501(c)(3) public charity the same year. The vision has expanded from providing excellent choral performances to creating engaging art experiences for people of all ages. Audiences are growing, reviews of the concerts are positive and enthusiastic, the children's chorus has 35 excited children, and 1,000 children are receiving a music appreciation curriculum through the music docent program. The board manages the budget frugally and a small surplus is generated each year.

Mission

Creating Life-Changing Opportunities for Engagement in the Arts.

Needs

Program Funding: $30,000 per year is needed to 1) fund a conductor and accompanist to rebuild and expand the Children and Youth Chorus and 2) expand the docent program to every school in the area without a music program. Colla Voce is 75% self-funded from the Chamber Singers ticket sales and adult singer donations. Community support is needed for the remaining 25%.

Music Docent Volunteers: Colla Voce organizes and provides a music appreciation curriculum and volunteer training in schools, K-3rd grade, with the goal to reach every elementary school in the Auburn, CA area without a music program. Colla Voce funds the curriculum and trainings - donations are needed to fund materials @ $25 per class for schools without the funds to do this. Docent volunteers are needed to expand the program.

Sound System: $4900 to complete the current sound system with two choral mics and four head-set mics.

Concert Sponsors: $500 per concert provides professional musicians, artfully designed programs and performance venues resulting in superior concert experiences to audiences in the foothills. There are two series per year, 3-4 concerts each in December and April.

Equity Statement

Colla Voce welcomes all people the opportunity to participate in and/or experience fully its music-arts experiences and programs regardless of culture, color, ethnicity, size, age, gender-identity, sexual orientation, religion, zip code or financial status.
