Campus Life Connection

CLC was established in 1992 to unify local government, local businesses, schools, and the nonprofit community for the purpose of encouraging young people in their character, confidence, and responsibility. Since 1992, CLC has provided recreational, social and educational opportunities to 1st-12th-grade youth in the greater Sacramento region.

CLC improves the lives of over 1,500 youth yearly through programs such as:
- City Life Community Centers: Provide homework assistance, after-school meals, mentoring, and recreation in a safe environment for students in low-income areas plagued with high crime, drugs, and gang activity. The North Area Teen Center in Carmichael, California was established in 1994 as the first venture in this strategy. Since then, we have continued to establish community centers of opportunity for growth and development.
- Sayonara Community Center: The Sayonara Center was established in 2004 to provide vulnerable youth from an underserved community riddled with gang violence with a safe, after-school program where they are tutored and mentored by adult volunteers. Experiencing tremendous success since its inception, the Sayonara Center offers a technology center; tutoring; mentoring; recreational activities and daily, nutritious meals for hundreds of low-income youth in 1st-12th grade. The Sayonara Center also provides recreational opportunities that youth would not have otherwise-including field trips, flag football, basketball, baseball, martial arts, swimming lessons, and camps.
- West Sacramento Collings Teen Center: Since 1995, the Teen Center has provided a safe, drug- and alcohol-free environment for teens after school and offers help with homework, computer labs and wholesome, recreational activities, as well as free, nutritious meals.
- Crossover Basketball: A safe, drug- and tobacco-free environment serving over 1,000 at-risk/high-risk students yearly through basketball leagues and after-school, life-skills programs for over 20 years. Crossover Basketball combines the love of basketball with life skills and character development. This unique basketball program partners with schools and community organizations to engage troubled youth in opportunities to grow in character, to avoid gang involvement, and to plan a better future.
- Point Break: A nationally-recognized, evidence-based, anti-bullying program. Its day-long workshops build unity and reduce bullying among middle- and high-school students (www.Pointbreakonline.com). Point Break workshops and follow-up sessions have been proven to improve the behaviors, values, and attitudes of students on their campuses and in their communities, intervening before acts of bullying, suicide, or violence occur.
