Help Us Make a Big Difference This Big Day of Giving!

Friends of Yolo County Animal Services is working diligently to help every shelter animal in Yolo County — and this Big Day of Giving, we’re reaching out to you with hopeful hearts and a mission to change lives.

Right now, our shelter is at or near maximum capacity. Many of the animals in our care are battling medical issues that require the help of outside veterinary specialists and dedicated foster homes. Your donation can make an immediate difference — providing vital medical treatment, comfort items like toys and bedding, and emotional support that makes their time in the shelter more bearable as they wait for forever homes.

Every dollar matters. Even a small gift of $25 can help provide medical care, food, and the comfort these animals deserve. Shelter medicine is limited, and without your support, many animals could go without necessary treatments like tooth extractions, tumor removals, and lifesaving medications. Your gift today ensures that no animal is left behind.

Please donate today — and share our mission with your friends and family. Together, we can build a brighter future for the animals of Yolo County.

Thank you for being a part of their journey to a new life!

Mission

At Friends of the Yolo County Animal Services, our hearts are with the animals who need us most. Our mission is simple but powerful: to support Yolo County Animal Services in improving the lives and welfare of every animal that comes into their care.

We believe every animal deserves a chance at a happy, healthy life—and with your help, we can make that happen. Whether an animal is in the shelter or placed with a loving foster, we work to create better conditions, promote adoptions, and increase the number of positive outcomes for our community’s most vulnerable pets.

Sometimes, that means stepping in when animals need more than the basics—when they require medical care beyond what the shelter can provide. From emergency surgeries to specialized treatments, we help fund that critical care so no animal is left behind due to cost or complexity.

Through generous donations and grants, we support vital initiatives like expanded spay/neuter programs, enrichment activities, and training for the dedicated staff and volunteers who give their time and love every day.

But we can’t do it alone.

Your support means the world—to us and to the animals.

By joining our efforts, donating, or spreading the word, you're helping provide a second chance for homeless, abandoned, and at-risk pets in Yolo County.

Together, we can make their lives brighter—and their future a little more hopeful.

Needs

This Big Day of Giving, help us raise $50,000 to provide life-saving care for animals in our shelter and throughout our community. 🐾

Every day, animals in Yolo County are struggling, not just inside the shelter, but in the community as well. From stray and surrendered dogs to pets whose families can’t afford urgent care, the need is constant and growing.

At Yolo County Animal Shelter, overcrowding and limited resources mean many dogs arrive with untreated medical issues such as injuries, infections, and dental disease. Without additional support, some of these animals may go without the care they urgently need.

At the same time, community pets are at risk. Families facing financial hardship are often forced to delay or forgo veterinary care, and without access to spay and neuter services, the cycle of overpopulation continues, leading more animals into the shelter system.

That is why Friends of Yolo County Animal Services is focused on what matters most.

Medical care. Spay and neuter. Enrichment.

Your support helps us provide critical medical care including surgeries, medications, and treatment for both shelter animals and community pets. It helps fund spay and neuter services that prevent unwanted litters and reduce the number of animals entering the shelter. It supports enrichment and behavioral care, giving shelter dogs the mental stimulation, comfort, and human connection they need to stay healthy, confident, and adoptable. It also provides food and essential supplies for animals in our care and families working hard to keep their pets.

Without these essentials, animals suffer and too many fall through the cracks.

With limited public funding, these programs rely on donors like you to continue. Every dollar makes a direct, life-changing impact, helping animals heal, keeping pets with the families who love them, and reducing the number of animals entering the shelter.

Donate today and be part of the solution for every animal who needs us. 🐾

Equity Statement

Friends of Yolo County Animal Services stands firmly behind the belief that every animal deserves a loving and secure forever home. Fulfilling this mission requires ensuring equitable access to animal welfare for all Yolo County residents.

We achieve this through several key initiatives:

Breaking down adoption barriers: We actively work to make adoption accessible by offering flexible adoption fees, connecting adopters with pet care assistance programs, and maintaining a welcoming and streamlined adoption process.

Reaching diverse communities: Yolo County Animal Services is committed to engaging with Yolo County's vibrant cultural landscape. We utilize multilingual outreach materials, provide cultural sensitivity training for our staff, and actively seek partnerships with local organizations to better serve our community.

Serving those most in need: Recognizing that access to veterinary care, pet resources, and animal welfare education can be limited in certain areas, we prioritize funding toward programs that provide services and resources towards Yolo County's underserved communities.

By promoting equity within our shelter and throughout Yolo County, we believe we can build a more compassionate and inclusive community for all animals and the people who love them.
