Who Do We Serve?
YIIN is guided by requested needs of the immigrant communities based on what they deem essential necessities. While COVID-19 had affected everyone, it most challenged those who do not have health insurance, unemployment insurance, and job security. When appropriate, we also advocate and support those who cannot speak for themselves including migrant workers, immigrant youth previously detained, and those displaced by major fires. We also assisted those caught up in immigration procedures who needed financial and legal support while seeking citizenshipYIIN's current ongoing project by providing emergency rental assistance to those between jobs, families affected by ICE detainment of bread winner, and providing legal and DACA as well as other form application fees needed for citizenship.

At the Community Food Pantry Table food and other supplies are offered gratis to our community members, since many in our communities continue to confront economic challenges and insecurities in the immigration policies that leave families fearful of deportation.   Fear of arrest and potential deportation (with family separations) has led to families being cloistered at home and away from school, job, needed healthcare, supportive religious communities and valuable community resources.  In these situations, YIIN volunteers have provided accompaniment to court, grocery deliverys, transportation to medical appointments, rapid response surveilance of ICE activities, and community education forums and ongoing agency networking in anticipation of ICE disruptions in Yolo County.   As concerned citizens in our communities seek ways to help immigrant neighbors,  YIIN provides opportunities for people to volunteer or bring their creative ideas to our monthly board and community advisory team meetings for consideration.   Several local fundraisers have occurred for YIIN, initiated by concerned citizens and membersa of the immigrant community.

Mission

YIIN (Yolo Interfaith Immigration Network) strives to collaborate with, advocate for, and support our immigrant neighbors in Yolo County. We believe that by working together and learning from each other we can make our community a better place for all of us to live and thrive.

Volunteers to become members of our trained team offering quarterly automotive brake light repairs across the community in various locations, alongside other basic needs resources (e.g. food, diapers, essential basic need items, etc.)

Equity Statement

Equity is the bedrock of our organization's mission and resource offerings. Since the founding in 2008, our organization has sought to advocate alongside immigrants at a variety of arenas across the region in support of basic needs resources and dignities many of us take for granted. Our primary services include financial support for immigrants experiencing food insecurity, housing insecurity, health challenges, and transportation concerns. Immigrants have continued to face legal, social and economic inequities in the USA, and YIIN is committed to continuing to center equity for all individuals- regardless of immigration status- across our organization's work as we move towards a just society.
