Woodland Tennis Club was founded in 1937 and became a non-profit after the closing of Country Oaks Racquet Club in 2006.

WTC has two tennis pros – Mark Hansen and Sunny Mallinson. Our pros are passionate about building Woodland Tennis Club's programs for juniors and beyond. Mark has a wealth of experience building successful tennis programs and says "A lot of the time I look around and it reminds me of how much of a 'full circle' life can be. I learned to play tennis at Woodland City Park and now I am teaching tennis there."

Mark has been teaching tennis between Woodland Tennis Club, Stonegate Tennis Academy in Davis, Vacaville Sports Club, and Phil Cello's Tennis Academy for the past 40 years.

Mission

The purpose of the Woodland Tennis Club is to promote, encourage and foster the development and growth of tennis for the Woodland community. WTC strives to make tennis accessible to all ages and skill levels through social, instructional and team-based activities.

Needs

Woodland Tennis Club is excited to raise funds to provide programs and camps to children and youth players in our community. Young players of our community are the future of the sport in Woodland and northern California. We will be able to purchase equipment, maintain the courts, and pay our pros an appropriate salary to keep them in our community.

In addition to raising funds for youth programs we have plans of building a Tennis Complex. This ambitious fund-raising campaign will require $3,000,000. Woodland Tennis Club has been allotted property near the Senior Center to build 11 state of the art, lighted tennis courts that would accommodate not only our established city teams but serve Davis and nearby clubs as well.

Some courts will be lined for Junior Tennis, and Wheelchair Tennis will be accessible here. A clubhouse and pro shop will also be built to store equipment and host tournament events for youth tennis from all over northern California.

We want to see Woodland become a hub for amateur as well as professional players. This kind of a facility will draw quality tennis players and events that elevate the game of tennis. It’s time to invest in our kids and tennis which will bring in substantial revenue to our city.
