Women of Color On The Move – 2026 Funding Needs
Women of Color On The Move (WOCOTM) relies on the generosity of individuals, board members, and community partners to continue delivering life‑changing programs in Sacramento. Since our founding, we have remained committed to providing education, counseling, vocational and skills training, income‑generation opportunities, micro‑credits, and psychological and social support to women, youth, and families.
In 2026, WOCOTM seeks donor support to expand our outreach and prevention efforts focused on opioid misuse, fentanyl awareness, mental health education, and substance use prevention related to alcohol and marijuana.
Why Funding Is Needed in 2026
To meet growing community needs, WOCOTM requires financial support in several key areas:
1. Program Funding
Support is needed to operate and expand our core services:
Substance abuse prevention workshops
Peer counseling and crisis support
Mental health and wellness education
Youth and women leadership development
Career readiness and workforce development
Financial literacy and income‑generation resources
Funding will ensure our programs remain accessible, culturally responsive, and available to all who need them.
2. Community Pop‑Up Outreach Events
In 2026, WOCOTM plans to increase the number of community pop‑ups focused on:
What is fentanyl?
How do opioids impact our community?
What are the mental health warning signs?
How do alcohol and marijuana affect youth and families?
Support is needed to cover materials, staffing, prevention tools, educational supplies, and community engagement resources.
3. In‑Kind Contributions
Donors can also support our mission through in‑kind gifts, including:
Event spaces for pop‑ups, training, and outreach
Office space for counseling and administrative services
Supplies such as educational materials, PPE, printing, and technology
Clothing for workforce preparation, especially for women preparing for job interviews
These contributions expand our reach and significantly reduce operational costs.
4. Volunteer and Peer Counselor Support
Our programs depend on trained volunteers and peer counselors who:
Provide outreach and education
Support women, youth, and families affected by substance use
Assist in mental health awareness efforts
Serve as mentors in workforce development
Funding is needed to support volunteer training, supervision, program coordination, and community partnership development.
