$3,000 Goal

We are committed to building connections among all residents by providing resources that educate, empower, and protect our community. We envision a safe, vibrant place where every resident is valued and celebrated. We prioritize the well-being and connectedness of our neighbors, honoring the rich cultures, traditions, and unique character that make our small town thrive. We proudly support the Winters Hispanic Advisory Committee.

Our work is led by community members and grounded in trust, relationships, and lived experience. For nearly two decades, we have worked closely with the community by listening, learning, and responding to real needs with care and intention. This deep connection allows us to design programs that are not only relevant, but meaningful and effective.

One of our longest standing traditions is offering free services for Permanent Residents to apply for US Citizenship in collaboration with CRLAF California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation and LSNC Legal Services of Northern California, and offering test preparation tutoring.  "Corazon played an important part in my journey to citizenship, and the support I found there made a real difference. That experience inspired me to give back, and now I am proud to volunteer and help others in our community find the same kind of support." Marcos Contreras Ramirez.  Many of our volunteers are former applicants.

We focus on removing barriers to access and opportunity by providing language support, citizenship application assistance, tutoring, and culturally inclusive programming. Through workshops and partnerships, we help residents navigate systems, access resources, and take important steps toward full participation in civic life.

Our community events bring people together in powerful ways. Festival de la Comunidad (aka Carnitas Festival) transforms our town into a vibrant celebration of culture, connection, and shared identity, welcoming thousands of residents and connecting them to local services and organizations. Our Día de Muertos celebration offers a meaningful space for remembrance, cultural expression, and intergenerational connection.

In addition to large-scale events, we respond to everyday needs through programs such as diaper distributions, brake-light repair clinics, and youth sports support,  our efforts promote safety, dignity, and inclusion across our community.

We are also investing in the future through the Maria Gutierrez Memorial Scholarship, supporting local students as they pursue their educational goals and carry forward the values of perseverance, service, and community.

At the heart of our work is a simple belief: strong communities are built through connection, trust, and shared responsibility. We remain steadfast in our mission to uplift our neighbors, strengthen belonging, and create opportunities for all residents to thrive. Thank you for your support.

Needs

Our community is strong—but many of our neighbors still face barriers to opportunity, access, and belonging.

We are working to change that. With your support, we provide citizenship workshops that offer critical legal and language assistance, helping residents take meaningful steps toward becoming U.S. citizens and fully participating in civic life.

Each year, our Festival de la Comunidad brings together nearly 3,000 people in a vibrant celebration of culture, connection, and shared identity. With over 20 nonprofit partners and an annual cost of $34,000, the festival transforms our downtown into a place of music, color, and community—where families gather, resources are shared, and a true sense of belonging comes to life.

We proudly sponsor a free Día de los Muertos celebration each November for the entire community—a deeply meaningful evening that honors Mexican culture, remembrance, and tradition. With the sound of mariachi, the beauty of ballet folklórico, and the warmth of traditional refreshments, the event creates a space for reflection, learning, and connection across generations.

We also respond to real, everyday needs: repairing brake lights to keep families safe, providing diapers to those who need them most, and supporting AYSO scholarships so every child has the opportunity to play, grow, and be part of a team.

We have created a new high school scholarship—the Maria Gutierrez Memorial Scholarship—to support students in their educational journey and invest in the future of our community for years to come.

Looking ahead, we are planning additional listening sessions in 2026 to deepen our understanding of community needs and ensure our programs remain responsive, equitable, and rooted in lived experience.

Your support makes this work possible—and helps ensure that every resident has the opportunity to be seen, supported, and included.

Equity Statement

We are committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable community where every individual, regardless of background or circumstance, has access to the resources, opportunities, and support they need to thrive. We recognize the systemic barriers that have historically marginalized many groups, and we are dedicated to addressing these disparities through intentional action, education, and advocacy.

Equity is at the core of everything we do. It drives our decisions, shapes our policies, and informs our collaborations. We strive to create spaces where diverse voices are not only welcomed but celebrated and empowered. By prioritizing fairness and justice, we aim to build a community that reflects the values of dignity, respect, and opportunity for all.

Together, we are working toward a future where equity is not just an aspiration but a lived reality.
