The Western States Trail Museum, located in Auburn's Historic Central Square, is in the process of making City-approved tenant improvements for the benefit of the public in an effort to preserve, document, educate, and promote the history and legacy of a trans-Sierra trail from Carson City, Nevada to Sacramento, California.
The Museum will serve as a testament to the trail's significance during Native American, Gold Rush, and modern-day eras. The museum will showcase the places where settlers, trail blazers, miners, and emigrants helped shape the American West. Visitors will dive into the history of this iconic trail, from its origins as a lifeline for indigenous communities to its contemporary allure as a stage for world renowned ultra-endurance events like the annual Western States Endurance Run and Tevis Cup 100 Mile Ride.
We are hopeful for a "soft" opening this spring. Also, join us for a preview of our musuem site during the Placer County Museum's Heritage Trail event this coming summer. We are located in Auburn at 1103 High Street, Suite 300. In the meantime, you are welcome to visit our website at: https://wstrailmuseum.org/ or find us on Facebook.
