Equity Statement
Equity Statement for Grant Application. The West Slope Foundation is committed to advancing equity as a core principle in all aspects of our disaster preparedness, response, and recovery work. We recognize that disasters do not impact all communities equally, and that systemic barriers often leave rural, low-income, elderly, disabled, and historically underserved populations more vulnerable and less equipped to recover.

Our approach to equity includes:
Prioritizing outreach and services to those most at risk, ensuring that our programs are accessible, inclusive, and responsive to diverse community needs.
Collaborating with trusted local partners, including the Pioneer Fire Protection District and grassroots organizations, to ensure culturally competent engagement and equitable distribution of resources.
Designing programs with community input, centering the lived experiences of disaster survivors in shaping our strategies and solutions.
Investing in capacity-building for local volunteers and leaders, particularly from underrepresented groups, to strengthen long-term resilience from within the community.
We believe that equitable disaster readiness is not only a matter of fairness—it is essential to building stronger, more resilient communities. This commitment guides our program design, resource allocation, and organizational culture.
