$3,000 Goal

At Wayfinder Family Services, we believe everyone deserves a chance to reach their full potential. We find loving homes for foster youth who have suffered unspeakable trauma and neglect, restore emotional well-being for children and families and give children and youth with visual or multiple disabilities a chance to thrive. Wayfinder merged with Lilliput Families in 2020, uniting two organizations committed to the highest quality in child welfare programs. Today we are known as Wayfinder Family Services and our impact has increased. We build healthier families and find loving homes for children across the state.

Mission

Wayfinder’s mission is to ensure that children, youth and adults facing challenges always have a place to turn. Founded in 1953 as the Foundation for the Junior Blind, Wayfinder continues to expand our expert, individualized services in response to our community’s needs in family well-being, child welfare, mental health, visual impairment and developmental disabilities. Our name became Wayfinder Family Services in 2018. Wayfinder is one of the largest statewide foster care and adoption agencies in California, and we provide services to more children who are blind than any other nonprofit in California. Our evidence-based programs support predominately low-income children, youth and families of color. We serve nearly 24,500 people annually, and our goal is to assist 30,000 per year by the end of 2028. With our long history, deep expertise and reach across California, Wayfinder is uniquely positioned to provide life-changing resources for the members of our community who need them most. Wayfinder is accredited by the Council on Accreditation for exemplary programs and operations, and is recognized as meeting the highest standards in fiscal management by Charity Navigator, Candid (GuideStar), and the Better Business Bureau.

Needs

Unrestricted support enables Wayfinder to continue delivering high-quality programs to our clients. These funds pay expenses that are not covered by government contracts but are crucial for excellent programs: intensive staff training; training on significant job-related topics such as trauma-informed care; training in implicit bias and anti-racism; delivery of whole-person support for clients; higher salaries for staff with master’s degrees; additional staff to provide therapeutic services, enhancements to reflect best practices; innovation and technology; as well as operations, evaluation, supervision and management of our programs. Your donation will help Wayfinder maintain our hallmark level of program quality and sustain good outcomes for our clients. Your gift will also drive our ability to innovate, to meet our clients and their families where they are, and to pivot to wherever our services are needed most.

Equity Statement
