1. Purpose
Village Stage Productions advances accessible, high-quality theater for youth and families. This policy sets expectations and responsibilities for an equitable, inclusive environment consistent with California law.
2. Non-Discrimination and Harassment
We prohibit discrimination, harassment, and retaliation on any protected basis under California or federal law. Our anti-harassment standards apply to employees, volunteers, participants, and board members.
3. Accessibility and Accommodation
We provide reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities and pregnancy-related conditions. We also work to remove barriers to participation in our programs.
4. Inclusive Practices
Recruitment and selection: Job and volunteer postings will use fair, role-related criteria.
Language access: We will strive to make program information understandable and accessible.
Representation: Casting, staffing, and volunteer opportunities will be open to diverse candidates without quotas or preferences inconsistent with law.
5. Training
Staff and volunteers will receive orientation on this policy, harassment prevention, mandated reporting, and youth protection standards. As required by law, employees will complete harassment-prevention training (CA Gov. Code §12950.1) once the organization reaches 5+ employees.

Reports will be taken seriously, investigated promptly, and resolved appropriately.
Retaliation for good-faith reports is prohibited.
7. Roles and Accountability

Executive Director: implements training and ensures compliance.
All personnel and volunteers: comply with the policy and complete required training.
8. Relation to Other Policies
This policy complements and supports the Anti-Harassment Policy, Whistleblower Policy, Youth Protection Policy, and Code of Conduct. The Board-approved version of this DEI Policy controls in the event of conflict.
