$13,000 Goal

UC Davis Women’s Rowing is a self-funded club program that aims to empower and set up our athletes for success on and off the water. As a non-profit sports club, our team receives minimal funding from the university, and the high cost of the sport means we must rely on outside sources of funding, such as dues and fundraising. Due to our efforts to keep membership affordable, rowers’ dues are insufficient to cover all the costs needed to keep our competitive club moving forward at full speed. This is why fundraisers, and the support of our community are so important for our team. Every year our team sends athletes to compete in the American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) National Championship, the largest collegiate regatta in the country. This year the regatta will be held in Oak Ridge, Tennessee from May 18th to May 21st. We plan to send two boats, an eight and a pair, to compete on a national level. In order to reduce financial barriers, our goal is for the majority of ACRA expenses to come directly from the money we fundraise every year. This money pays for flights, hotel costs, and food for our athletes, as well as the expenses for boat entries, car rentals, gas, and parking. In total, ACRA expenses will be over $13,000. With your support, we are able to introduce new women to the wonderful sport of rowing and allow them to compete on a national level regardless of experience or financial background.

Giving Activity

Mission

The purpose of this team is to provide the opportunity for students to practice the sport of rowing at a competitive, collegiate level under the tutelage of a trained coaching staff, while promoting team unity in a supportive environment. The organization exists to enrich the education experience of UC Davis students and further the sport of rowing by establishing a competitive rowing squad on the UC Davis campus. Emphasis is placed on fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for students and encouraging personal development through the realization of personal and team goals, in addition to being competitive in the sport of rowing. This organization serves as an ambassador of UC Davis in the sport of intercollegiate rowing.

Equity Statement

The UC Davis Women’s Crew Team aims to reduce barriers of access to the sport of rowing and to create a welcoming community for students on campus. Our ultimate goal is to provide resources, community, and space for people from a variety of backgrounds, especially those who might not otherwise have access to rowing. One of our priorities for this season is to make our team more inclusive and accessible to the diversity of students in our campus community.
