We are Tuleyome, which means “Deep Home Place”
Tuleyome is the leading local non-profit organization protecting the wild lands of the Inner Coastal Range and Western Sacramento Valley.
We led the charge to permanently protect the Berryessa Snow Mountain region as a National Monument, protecting over 330,000 acres of federal public lands.
We led the charge to designate upper Cache Creek as a California State Wild and Scenic River.
We led the charge to designate the Cedar Roughs, Cache Creek and Yuki Wilderness Areas and expand the Snow Mountain Wilderness Area.
And now we’re leading the charge to restore these lands and connect the people of our area to the natural beauty and wildlife in the critical habitats of our region.
We’re doing this with:
Process-Based Restoration building Beaver Dam Analogs that heal the land and build fire and water resilience for humans and animals;
Tuleyome Adventures, a nationally-recognized program empowering youth conservation leaders and teaching conservation, sustainability and land stewardship;
Training programs minting Certified California Naturalists in partnership with UC Agriculture and Natural Resources;
Grade-specific science, nature and art field trips at Woodland Regional Park Preserve and Conaway Ranch;
The Tuleyome Boot Bank helping economically-disadvantaged families experience nature in the field;
The “Nature and You” lecture and “Tuleyome Tales” newspaper series educating the public about the local natural environment;
Actively advocating for our public lands and working collaboratively throughout the region;
Wildflower Tours engaging the public to directly experience the biodiversity and beauty of Molok Luyuk and Bear Valley;
Boots on the ground across the entire region building trails, restoring habitat and healing the land.
We are Tuleyome.
