Hello Theatre Lover!

Theatre is born wherever creativity thrives, and here in Lincoln, it is thriving beautifully! The Stage was founded in 2019 with a bold purpose: to offer high-quality arts education to children from diverse backgrounds, including all socioeconomic statuses and abilities. Our tagline, “Everyone belongs on The Stage,” is not just a phrase—it is our guiding principle for creating an inclusive, welcoming environment.

What does that commitment to inclusivity look like in practice? Let us show you:

  • DIVERSITY: The Stage is proudly women-founded and women-led. Our staff and students reflect abroad spectrum of backgrounds, embracing people of color, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and those from other women-owned businesses. We are building a theatre community where everyone feels valued and empowered.
  • EQUITY: Since reopening after the pandemic in June 2021, we have awarded over 40 financial-need scholarships, helping to ensure that financial barriers do not stand in the way of any child’s creativity. When the lights go down, we are all the same, united by our shared love of the arts.
  • INCLUSION: We practice what we preach with inclusive, colorblind casting and by hosting workshops that integrate neurotypical and neurodivergent actors. Our workshops are a place where everyone’s unique talents are celebrated, creating a safe and supportive stage for all.

But why do we work so tirelessly to make sure every child gets a chance to shine? Because we believe the performing arts can profoundly shape young lives. Kids involved in theatre are shown to:

  • Achieve higher GPAs across all socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Express emotions more effectively
  • Develop empathy and inclusiveness
  • Build stronger self-esteem

We are not just preparing the next generation of actors; we are nurturing confident, compassionate people—and we are proud to play a role in their growth!

How can you fit into our story? We are so glad you asked. The Stage is seeking partnerships with community members like you to help us grow and continue our mission. Here is a glimpse at what your support will help us accomplish:

  • Supporting over 1,000 kids each year who walk through our doors and find a place to belong
  • Production costs exceeding $20,000 for each show, which covers licensing fees, costuming, sets, props, and more!

If you would like to learn more about what we do, let’s connect! I would love to share our vision over a cup of coffee and explore how we can work together.
