$15,000 Goal

The Sunshine Family Bookmobile strives to provide equal access to books and resources for young readers in North Highlands.  We travel throughout the community, making stops at parks, apartment complexes, and a SETA/Head Start program. Our Bookmobile stops are in neighborhoods where the closest library is over 4 miles away and resources are scarce.  We have issued over 500 library cards and continue to sign up new readers every week. We are building a community of readers and book lovers. We know that most students who are reading at grade level by the end of the third grade will graduate from high school, so giving students access to books and literacy programs outside of the school day  contributes to better school success.   Immigrants make up a large number of bookmobile participants.  Providing literacy services in this under resourced community is our priority.  Through reading incentives, rewards, and more, the Sunshine Family Bookmobile creates an environment of learning, comradery and fun!
