Sun City Lincoln Hills Neighborhood Watch first began in June 2004 with its first set of bylaws. The purpose of SCLH Neighborhood Watch was and continues to be to ensure the safety and preparedness of its 11,000 senior citizens. This is accomplished by working closely with the Lincoln Police and Fire Departments; holding safety symposiums and events to inform our residents about scams, their elder abuse, and 211 resources; collect emergency information to ensure first responders have all the necessary information in case a resident is incapacitated; hold National Night Out where residents meet county, city, police, fire, and sheriff officials; greet each new resident with a Welcome Packet of critical information about your community; for residents who may not have access to the Internet or computers we have Safe at Home Packets which contains vital resources and information for them. We regularly send out "Alerts" to residents in cases of unsafe incidents in our neighborhoods. These alerts are hand-delivered to those without computers.
- Currently, we have over 600 volunteer members: our Board, our mailbox captains, and our coordinators work closely together to ensure our residents are safe, prepared for emergencies, and happy. To celebrate our successes we hold Volunteer Appreciation Pot Lucks and recognize those volunteers with 10 and 20 years of service.
Our mission statement is:
"Strengthen neighborhood ties; Increase personal safety and security; Be the "eyes" and "ears" of Lincoln Police and Fire Departments; Encourage emergency preparedness.
All our documents, calendars, organizational charts, accomplishments, history and upcoming events, can be found on our website: SCLHWatch.org.
Our annual budget is approximately $5,025, all grants and donations. When we have any extra monies we buy specialized equipment for the fire department such as collapsible gurneys. We would like to help our local fire and police departments even more who give so much of their time in keeping us apprised of safety issues in our community. Because of our collaborative efforts, we are the 4th safest city in California.
Currently, we would like to upgrade our website, improve our communication with residents, recruit more volunteers and increase our Safety Events.
