Styling Fresh for Success is a youth fashion-styling education nonprofit that uses fashion as a creative, skill-based, and developmental tool to support youth growth, identity exploration, and workforce readiness. We serve middle school, high school, and transitional-age youth, with a focus on students from under-resourced communities who benefit from hands-on learning, mentorship, and alternative pathways to success. Currently, Styling Fresh For Success is contracted with the Sacramento City Unified School District, serving high school students.
In addition to Styling Fresh For Success is Fashion Fun with Jessa, which is fashion events and workshops that are provided for the community to create connection, skill-development and empowerment through creativity.
Styling Fresh for Success operates through a structured four-level fashion education and mentorship pathway designed to build skills, leadership, and long-term opportunity:
Level 1 – Core Fashion Styling, Empowerment & Showcase
Students learn fashion history, styling fundamentals, color theory, body proportions, fabrics, trends, hand sewing, and customization. Level 1 includes empowerment discussions at the beginning, middle, and end of the program to support identity development and confidence building. Students participate in field trips to fashion-related spaces, engage with guest speakers from the creative industry, and conclude the level with a student fashion show experience that allows them to showcase what they’ve learned.
Level 2 – Upcycling & Sales
Students transform donated or thrifted garments into original pieces and participate in pop-up markets and showcases. This level teaches entrepreneurship, pricing, branding, and customer interaction while reinforcing creativity and problem-solving skills.
Level 3 – Administration, Operations & Leadership
Students gain real-world nonprofit and business operations experience by assisting with marketing, outreach, flyer creation, donor communication, and program support. Participants complete structured service work and receive stipends for successfully completing designated responsibilities, reinforcing workplace readiness and accountability.
Level 4 – Advanced Industry Experience, Showcase & Scholarship
Students participate in advanced fashion showcases (including regional or out-of-area opportunities), complete a capstone project documenting their journey, and develop original brand or portfolio concepts. Students who complete all program levels consistently are eligible for a scholarship award ranging from $1,000–$2,000 to support their continued educational or entrepreneurial goals.
