Spero Medical: A Pregnancy Resource Center was formerly known as Pregnancy Support Group (PSG) of Woodland.  The organization has a long history of serving women facing unplanned pregnancy in Woodland, Yolo County, California.  Founded in 1983, for 40 years we have been recognized as an important resource offering hope to women in challenging pregnancy situations.  We have continuously offered practical, emotional, and spiritual support including education about pregnancy and prenatal development, and resources such as our Mommy Bucks “earn while you learn” program.

We provide a variety of programs and services that are always offered free of charge.  Our purpose is to support, encourage, and assist a woman in carrying her pregnancy to term and in caring for her baby after birth.  We also support improved pregnancy outcomes, family stability, and economic self-sufficiency.  We do not make referrals for abortion.

As a licensed medical clinic, Spero’s licensed medical professionals provide a range of services to our clients.  These medical services allow Spero to provide information, education and support at the earliest possible time: when a woman first learns she is pregnant and may be considering abortion.

Our medical services include:

  • Pregnancy testing and pregnancy decision consultation
  • Ultrasound imaging and consultation
  • Pre-abortion screening
  • Prenatal health information
  • STD testing and treatment
  • Other well woman care

Spero’s vision is to offer medical services in order to reach and connect with women in need. We want to be the kind and compassionate resource that makes the first connection at a point of crisis, but we do not want to stop there! Spero’s mission is always to minister to the whole woman, including her medical, practical, emotional and spiritual needs.  Our client advocates will come alongside to help the client with whatever resources she may need, while emphasizing she is valuable and loved.  These loving and supportive services include:

  • Healthy Boundaries, Self-Esteem and Sexual Integrity Education
  • Education: Prenatal, Childbirth, Breastfeeding, Infant Care, Parenting, Life Skills
  • "Mommy Bucks - Earn While You Learn" program
  • Car Seat & Crib programs for qualifying clients
  • Parenting education and support services
  • Father's Rights & Responsibilities
  • "The Quest For Authentic Manhood" - Men's counseling, support, and information
  • Post abortion recovery classes

We also provide accurate information, referral, and assistance with securing additional and necessary resources that enable a woman to carry her pregnancy to term and to care for her baby after birth.  These referral services include:

  • Prenatal Care
  • Maternity Housing
  • Medical care
  • Nutrition services
  • Housing assistance
  • Adoption information and referral
  • Education and Employment Assistance, including services that support the continuation and completion of high school

Giving Activity

Mission

Spero Medical exists to make it possible for a woman facing an unplanned or unsupported pregnancy to see hope in her situation and to understand that carrying a baby to term is a possible and positive path forward.

We engender hope for women who feel hopeless, alone, overwhelmed or scared. We come alongside at the point of crisis to help our clients overcome the things that they see as obstacles or threats.

We provide compassionate care, education, and practical resources to meet the needs of women and their babies. We extend services to the fathers as well, and we continue to walk alongside the family after the baby is born.

Our goal is a thriving life for baby, mother and father.

Needs

Spero Medical relies solely on the generosity of individuals, churches, and like minded organizations. We do not receive any government funding and all of our services are provided free of charge. We never have a financial interest in a woman's choice.

Your generous gift on Big Day of Giving will be used to support programs that give hope to women at a point of crisis, when many voices are actually telling them that there is only one choice. We empower women with information and practical support.

This year's campaign focuses on supporting our efforts to reach women at the point of crisis, using online search advertising. See our Goals tab at the top of the page for more information.

Equity Statement

We offer services to anyone regardless of age, ethnicity, religious affiliation or social-economic background.
