Giving Activity

Mission

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

The mission of Special Olympics Northern California is to create an inclusive community where people with and without disabilities can make connections, develop healthy lifestyles, achieve success, and experience the joy of sports.

Needs

All Special Olympics programs are offered free of charge to athletes and families, so we rely on support from our community to make it happen!

Throughout the greater Sacramento area and 40+ counties in Northern California, we serve thousands of athletes, students, families, volunteers, and coaches contributing to a diverse and united community. Here locally, we host multiple sports competitions (including Fall Games, basketball regionals and more), inclusive schools events, and health programs.

Come see your support in action on May 18 at the Folsom Spring Games! Athletes will be competing in swimming, tennis and track & field. Learn more at SONC.org.

Equity Statement

We value, celebrate and respect all differences, backgrounds and perspectives and understand that greater diversity and inclusion creates a stronger and more innovative organization that delivers better results as we work with the athletes in all communities.
