The South Natomas Improvement Association (SNIA) is a neighborhood association established August 7, 2019, to foster the engagement of community members in forming a united and collective voice to protect and maintain the unique blend of residential and commercial features of South Natomas. SNIA is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization:

Here are some of our goals:

--Organize festivals to celebrate our cultural diversity

--Build a stronger, safer neighborhood

--Procure art for public places

--Promote culinary, musical and other art forms

--Maintain the heritage and uniqueness of South Natomas

--Plan for adventurous and fun activities for youth and adults

--Work with elected officials, on behalf of the community, to achieve our goals

VISION

The arts are woven into the fabric of daily life—promoting civic engagement, encouraging collective problem-solving, and building bridges across cultures

Streets, neighborhoods, and our community will be revitalized, enriched, and enlivened by art and culture

CORE VALUES

INCLUSIVITY:  Providing opportunities for everyone in our community to enrich their lives through service and the arts.

STEWARDSHIP:  The commitment of all within South Natomas to ensure the success of our mission both today and into the future.

Mission

To create community through service and the arts, reflecting the cultural diversity of, and affection for, South Natomas, benefiting all who live and work here, and to provide the promise of a better life for future generations.

Needs

Financial donations are needed to support continuation of our nonprofit status and website maintenance. More specifically, two projects are being planned for which financial support is needed.

Project 1 - A cookbook entitled "The Culture and Cuisine of South Natomas - A Cookbook of Recipes and Stories". It will involve the entire community through the blending of cultures and food, creating a sense of belonging.

Project 2 - A Tiny Forest - A tiny forest utilizes small plots of land to jump-start the natural evolution of grassland to meadow to forest into an all-at-once mature forest. The size can range from a few hundred square feet to several acres. The tiny forest uses plants already compatible with local conditions to create habitat and to absorb carbon up to 10 times faster than occurs in nature. It also provides cleaner air and an opportunity for community involvement in the process. We are working on finding a location and obtaining funding.

Equity Statement

Our commitment to equity and inclusion across race, gender, age, religion, identity, and experience drives us forward every day as we seek to grow and develop.
