Soroptimist is a global volunteer organization that works to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment. There are over 160,000 members in 120 countries and territories who contribute time and financial support to community-based projects and international projects that benefit women and girls.
Soroptimist International of Citrus Heights (SICH) is one of several local Soroptimist clubs in Sacramento County who believe in educating, empowering, and enabling women and girls. We are a group of dedicated people who volunteer their time, talents, and money to various service projects to improve the lives of women and children. In an atmosphere of fun and friendship and through hands-on projects and fundraisers, we provide financial assistance, scholarships, and education to women and girls in our local community and throughout the world.
SICH offers a Live Your Dream award, a Pansy Carrick Award, and several high school scholarships. In addition, we offer a Dream It, Be It Career Support program at a local high school for girls facing challenges to their future success.
Although our organization does not provide services directly, we provide financial assistance to organizations within the community that do provide these services. We support the Citrus Heights Police Department (CHPD), the Citrus Heights Food Bank, Single Mom Strong, Blue Star Moms, the Children's Receiving Home of Sacramento, and the Mercy San Juan Hospital program that provides backpacks for human trafficking victims to name a few.
