Based in Placerville, California, the Sierra Symphony Orchestra was formed in 1985 and is dedicated to bringing symphonic music to the foothills. Made up of local musicians from El Dorado County, Amador County, Placer County, and Sacramento County, the Sierra Symphony Orchestra embraces the mission to promote the enjoyment of a broad range of musical genres by presenting regularly-scheduled concerts to the general public and by encouraging and supporting the participation of student musicians as members of the Orchestra and as featured young artists. The Symphony performs several concerts each year in Placerville, Cameron Park, and Rescue.

Mission

The Sierra Symphony Orchestra embraces the mission to promote the enjoyment of a broad range of musical genres by presenting regularly-scheduled concerts to the general public and by encouraging and supporting the participation of student musicians as members of the Orchestra and as featured young artists.

Needs

The Sierra Symphony Orchestra aims to provide a delightful mix of musical selections ranging from Classical pieces by famous composers, works from musical theater, holiday selections, as well as pieces from both modern and local composers. Our annual budget for purchasing sheet music is $1600.

Young Artists Concert Awards - the Sierra Symphony Orchestra awards $500 to each young musician who is selected (during an application and audition process) to perform a movement from a concerto with the Orchestra. Our annual budget for these awards is $2000.

Rehearsal and Concert Venue costs - the annual costs to secure our rehearsal and concert venues is approximately $1500.

Printing - The cost for printing programs and flyers for each concert season is approximately $1500.
