Snakes Are Important, Let's Save Them Together

Founded in 2017, Save The Snakes is a nonprofit organization located in Sacramento, California. We steer and support snake conservation efforts through a community of passionate wildlife conservationists, which consists of our International and USA-based Team Members, Board of Directors, and Advisory Committee. We empower our dedicated Conservation Partners and other snake conservationists who implement critically important snake conservation efforts around the world. Together we work globally to promote our mission and foster support for snake conservation.

Over the past six years, Save The Snakes and our Conservation Partners have had great impact on the conservation of snakes around the world, including:

  • Our organization financially supported, provided technical guidance, and fueled the growth of 33 snake conservation projects in 19 countries
  • Over 100,000 people in local communities around the world were provided with education opportunities by Save The Snakes and our Conservation Partners
  • Thousands of snakes were safely rescued and relocated from human-snake conflict situations
  • With support from our donors and through the strength of our network, we raised nearly $280,000 for our local and international snake conservation programs... but there is more work to be done!

Global Wildlife Conservation, Headquartered in Sacramento, California

To better serve our community in Northern California, Save The Snakes has opened the Snake Conservation Center (SCC) in Sacramento, California. The SCC serves as a foundation from which to conduct our work and collaborate with our worldwide network of Conservation Partners.

Through the Snake Conservation Center, our team works to expand our regional snake education programs, drastically reduce human-rattlesnake conflict and address the snake conservation needs of threatened and endangered snake species in the Western United States.

Save The Date: SnakeFest is May 11, 2024

Hosted by Save The Snakes, the 3rd annual Sacramento Snake Festival (SnakeFest) celebrates our world’s most interesting and misunderstood animals and introduces the mission and vision of Save The Snakes to the City of Sacramento and surrounding communities. SnakeFest promotes wildlife conservation, environmental stewardship and peaceful coexistence between humans and snakes.

We are so grateful for our community in California who supported the first annual Sacramento Snake Festival and our global snake conservation efforts. We anticipate SnakeFest will be even BIGGER this year. We hope you can join us for SnakeFest in person or celebrate in spirit from afar!

More exciting updates about SnakeFest are coming soon! You can learn more about this important educational event by visiting: www.savethesnakes.org/snakefest
