Needs
This year, your Big Day of Giving gift will power one focused, high-impact initiative: PROPEL Readiness.
PROPEL Readiness equips high-need elementary classrooms with durable, research-informed supports that strengthen classroom systems, build self-regulation skills, and increase readiness to learn.
Because academic success begins with emotional safety — and classrooms that work well for every student.
THE CHALLENGE
Across San Juan Unified, educators are seeing rising levels of student stress and increasing behavioral needs. When classrooms lack consistent systems and supportive tools, valuable instructional time is lost — and learning is interrupted.
Teachers are not asking for quick fixes.
They are asking for tools that:
Strengthen classroom routines
Support healthy self-regulation
Reduce disruptions
Create environments where students feel safe, focused, and ready to engage
They do not need one-time consumables.
They need lasting classroom infrastructure.
OUR RESPONSE: PROPEL Readiness Grants
Through PROPEL Readiness, the San Juan Education Foundation will invest in multi-year, non-consumable tools that bring stability and structure to high-need elementary classrooms.
These investments may include:
Calming corner furnishings and sensory supports
Visual schedule systems and routine anchors
Durable regulation tools
Structured reflection and reset spaces
Implementation guidance to ensure consistency and impact
When implemented consistently, these supports:
Increase time on task
Strengthen peer relationships
Improve classroom climate
Reduce educator strain
Expand access to instruction
This is not a temporary fix.
It is a strategic investment in classroom systems — and in the students who depend on them.
THE IMPACT
Your Big Day of Giving gift will help us:
Equip high-need elementary classrooms with socioemotional supports
Reach thousands of students each year
Provide durable assets designed for sustained use
Reduce barriers to readiness and engagement
When whole-student supports are in place, classrooms stabilize.
When classrooms stabilize, learning accelerates.
When learning accelerates, students grow — with confidence, resilience, and possibility.
