A Message from Dr. B J Davis, Executive Director: Sacramento Recovery House Needs Your Help on The Big Day of Giving Thursday, May 4th

Sacramento Recovery/Gateway House has been providing substance misuse and co-occurring treatment services for over 50 years.  We are dedicated to providing gender responsive, trauma informed residential services to adult persons seeking recovery from the pain, isolation, and hopelessness that often accompanies addiction.  As the new executive director at Sacramento Recovery House, I am committed to paying my own recovery forward by bringing hope to the hopeless and empowering individual to “recover” the dignity, self-worth, and quality of life their addiction stole from them and their families.  You can hear more about my journey here in a TED Talk I was invited to give about my own recovery story: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaQQVevhZEM .

Many of the staff at Sacramento Recovery/Gateway House have their own recovery stories and therefor possess a great reservoir of empathy, compassion, understanding, expertise, and dedication to helping our clients put their lives back together and get on the path to a healthier and brighter future.  Here is just one note we received from one of our recent clients:

Your past generous donations have helped us acquire the many things we need to make testimonies like this possible. This client had been using illicit drugs for over 15 years and was in the process of losing her children.  Sacramento Recovery/Gateway house helped her turn that around and she and her family are reunited and moving forward to a healthier, happier tomorrow.  We here at Sacramento Recovery/Gateway House are grateful for the support you have provided us in the past.  Your donations make a difference.  So, we humbly ask that you continue to share your generosity with us so we can continue providing the supportive, caring, science informed, strength-based services the individuals and families we serve so desperately need.  In addition to your donation, we’d appreciate you enlisting your family and friends to donate to Sacramento Recovery House as well.

Thank you for your kind consideration and for being a part of the Sacramento Recovery/Gateway House community.

Dr. B J Davis

Mission

Sacramento Recovery House, Inc. (SRH) is dedicated to providing gender responsive, trauma-informed residential services to adult persons seeking recovery from the disease of substance use disorders. In a caring and supportive, strength-based, and home-like environment, SRH Inc. provides residents with the opportunity to live a sober and productive life through two separate programs, Gateway House for Women, and Sacramento Recovery House for men.

Needs

Sacramento Recovery House/Gateway is in need of "Smart" TV/displays for both houses. This will increase both the residents and staff's ability to access and participate in audio/video therapeutic classes, group meetings, and trainings.

Both houses need new computers to add more work stations for our growing staff and to accommodate the new Electronic Heath Record program the county is transitioning to.

The two residences are in need of housing repairs and needed appliances, such as a microwave, stove hood vent, and vacuums.

A security camera system for the detox, residential & sober living compound we are building at our New Stockton Blvd property is needed to address recent trespass incidents and to increase the residents and staff safety 24/7.

The Women's house needs an insert for the fireplace, to ensure there is heat available during adverse weather and power outages.

Both houses are in need of basic clothing, underwear, socks, shirts, blouses, pants, sweaters and shoes for indigent residents.

We need money to provide gift certificates that clients graduating our program can use to purchase things they need to help them successfully transition back into the community (clothes, hygiene supplies, transportation, medication, housing support, etc.)

We are in need of new curriculum and work books for the residents.
