Needs
RISE, Inc. is seeking community support to sustain and expand essential programs that serve youth, families, and seniors across western rural Yolo County. Communities such as Winters, Esparto, Madison, and the greater Capay Valley face unique challenges, including geographic isolation, limited transportation, and fewer nearby services. As a result, many residents rely on RISE as a trusted local resource for support, connection, and opportunity.
1) After-School Program
Every young person deserves a safe, supportive environment to learn and grow beyond the school day. In western rural Yolo County, however, geographic isolation, limited transportation, and a lack of nearby youth programs often leave families with few safe and affordable options once school ends. Many parents work long or nontraditional hours, making supervised enrichment opportunities essential for student safety and success.
Program Activities include:
-Homework support and academic enrichment
-Leadership development and mentorship
-Social-emotional learning activities
-Enrichment opportunities that promote creativity and teamwork
-Positive youth engagement that supports healthy decision-making
2) Mental Health & Wellness Services
Access to culturally responsive mental health services remains limited in rural communities. Youth and families often face long wait times or must travel significant distances to receive care. RISE helps close this gap by providing accessible school-based mental health support that promotes emotional well-being, resilience, and stability.
Program Activities include:
-Individual counseling for K – 12 grade students
-Behavioral health support and early intervention
-Social-emotional skill building
-Resource navigation and referrals to additional care
-Youth support and stabilization services
3) Senior Program – Elder Recreation
Many seniors in rural communities experience isolation due to transportation barriers and limited opportunities for social engagement. RISE’s Senior Program creates welcoming spaces where older adults can remain active, connected, and supported while maintaining independence and quality of life.
Program Activities include:
-Recreational and social activities that help reduce isolation
-Health, wellness, and civic engagement opportunities
-Resource navigation and referrals
-Community meals and gatherings
-A fitness class to build upper-body strength and avoid falls
Through these programs, RISE strengthens well-being across generations by supporting youth during critical developmental years, improving access to mental health care, and ensuring seniors remain connected, valued members of the community.
