The River District Community Foundation is a 501(c)3 dedicated to improving the economic and cultural wellbeing of the River District. The River District has many challenges, but many more opportunities for growth.
Through our programs, we are working to restore our riverfront. Our goal is to promote development that acts as a catalyst for sustainable growth. The River District Community Foundation hosts events annually to provide opportunities for residents, businesses, and visitors to connect with each other at low or no cost to them. This is incredible important in a historically disinvested community that is isolated due to infrastructure that prioritizes cars over people.
Through everything we do, we aim to make the River District a more vibrant, livable community.
Our mission is to improve the general interests of the River District and to promote, develop, encourage and maintain education, employment, commerce and economic development including related services, and improvement projects that will make the River District a livable and sustainable community.
The River District includes three miles of riverfront. We are working to restore our riverfront and activate it with new programs and events that highlight its natural and cultural significance in the region. The foundation also advocates for the sustainable development of the district.
The River District is committed to building a community that values and promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion. We recognize that we have a responsibility to establish a culture that celebrates and promotes equitable opportunities for everyone. Through collaboration, advocacy, and strategic investments, we strive to foster a welcoming and inclusive neighborhood that supports local commerce, cultural diversity and sustainable growth.
