For most of its history, the Rancho Cordova Food Locker was run by a passionate group of volunteers. Since 2019, the Food Locker has seen a significant increase in the number of households facing food insecurity. In 2020, the Food Locker took an important next step, becoming an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and a member of Catholic Charities.
Supported by the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services partner agency network program, the Food Locker benefits from collaborating with a group of like organizations throughout the Sacramento Region, which are providing food related support to those in need.
We currently serve from 1200-1500 families PER WEEK in a total of nine hours. That is 167 families per hour or 3 families per minute! Our community is so supportive by volunteering, collecting food, and financially championing the operational costs of our food locker. The biggest impact YOU can make is by donating today or by becoming a year round supporter of the new Community Food Hub, our exciting new facility!
The Community Food Hub, a remodel of a 6600 sf building on Don Juan Drive in Rancho Cordova, will soon allow the organization to implement a people’s choice model, establishing a grocery store model of food choice, while also offering innovative programs and wraparound services, creating a comprehensive approach to addressing food insecurity in our region. It will be the first in the Sacramento region! Our goal is to be a changemaker offering fresh food, educational, nutrition, healthcare and workforce classes and an array of services empowering our neighbors on their life journey. Please join in this movement and become a part of this change! Thank you for taking the time to learn about us!
