Raise The Barr aims to increase opportunity and economic mobility for single-parent families through higher education, career development, and housing. Inspired by our co-founders, Lori Barr and her son, retired Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowl Linebacker Anthony Barr, we support single parents and their children through their educational pursuits because we believe they possess the ability and strength to produce inspiring outcomes.
During Give To the Max, Anthony has pledged to supercharge every first-time donor's gift to Raise The Barr by adding $200 to your gift. For all returning donors, he will add $100 to your gifts.

Raise The Barr invests in single-parent families, providing the stability, support, and opportunity they need to pursue education, gain career-ready skills, and build lasting economic mobility. We’re tackling poverty two generations at a time.
For many single-parent students, an unforeseen expense for something like a car repair or medical bill can create a financial crisis that threatens their educational persistence. To quickly address that need, Raise The Barr proudly offers emergency grants of up to $1,000 to help stabilize single-parent students who have experienced an unforeseen financial issue that jeopardizes their ability to remain in school, and ultimately to obtain a college degree.
Our fundraising goal of $34,000 would double our emergency fund and increase our capacity to ensure that single-parent students in the West Sacramento region persist in school to Graduation.
