Powerhouse Ministries has been ending the cycles of addiction, abuse, and poverty in the Sacramento region for over 30 years. We exist to inspire and empower people to rise above their circumstances, change their lives, and impact their community.

At the heart of this mission is our Women & Children's Center, a long-term residential recovery program that provides women and their children with a safe, stable environment where lasting transformation can begin. The program is offered at no cost to participants and serves women overcoming addiction, trauma, homelessness, domestic violence, incarceration, and other life-controlling challenges. Through individualized case management, recovery support, life-skills training, parenting education, counseling, relapse prevention, family reunification, and workforce development, women are equipped to build healthy, independent lives while breaking generational cycles for their children.

Recognizing that healing extends beyond sobriety, Powerhouse Ministries launched its no-cost Counseling Center to provide comprehensive mental health services for residents of the Women & Children's Center as well as individuals, families, youth, and children in the community. Our team of skilled practitioners takes a holistic approach that addresses the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being of each person. We provide specialized care for those recovering from trauma, PTSD, addiction, domestic violence, abuse, anxiety, depression, chronic stress, grief, codependency, eating disorders, self-harm, and other life-altering experiences. Our goal is to restore hope, strengthen families, and equip every individual with the tools needed for lasting healing.

Since opening, our Counseling Center has provided more than 1,433 no-cost individual therapy sessions to people in urgent need of mental health support. Through these services, women and families have experienced meaningful progress, including healing from trauma, reduced PTSD symptoms, improved emotional regulation, increased self-awareness, stronger coping skills, healthier relationships, and renewed hope for the future.

Every woman who enters our Women & Children's Center is given more than a place to recover—she is given the opportunity to rebuild her life while creating a new future for her children. By investing in mothers, we are investing in healthier families and stronger communities for generations to come.

"It is no secret that our country is experiencing a sharp rise in mental illness, addiction, violence, and homelessness. What you may not know is, at the same time, there is an even greater cry for help. We are seeing record numbers of people who genuinely want to stop these cycles in their own lives and make sure their children never have to experience them. They are coming, and with your partnership, we will be ready to give them the help they so desperately want. " - Nancy Atchley, Executive Director
