Powerhouse Ministries has been ending the cycles of addiction, abuse, and poverty in the Sacramento region for over thirty years. We exist to inspire and empower people to rise above their circumstances, change their lives, and impact their community.
Our recovery programs, including the Women and Children's Center and Men's Residential Recovery Center, provide no-cost support such as relapse prevention, therapy, case management, and family reunification for those overcoming addiction and trauma. Our Crisis and Community Care Center offers immediate resources and long-term referrals to help individuals break free from homelessness, addiction, abuse, and incarceration. We also offer community outreach through weekly events, seasonal celebrations, and youth programs, while our Leadership College empowers young adults with life coaching, internships, and career placement to build a brighter future.
Recently, we launched our no-cost Counseling Center, dedicated to serving individuals, families, youth, and children. At this center, our team of skilled practitioners takes a holistic approach to address the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being of each person. We tackle a variety of challenges, including but not limited to trauma, PTSD, addiction, all forms of abuse, eating disorders, codependency, anxiety, depression, hopelessness, chronic stress, anger, self-harm, and other life-altering experiences. Our goal is to restore hope, foster connection, and reignite vitality in those we serve.
Since its inception, the Counseling Center has provided over 1,433 individual holistic therapy sessions at no cost to those in urgent need of mental health support. Through these sessions, our residents and participants have experienced a wide range of benefits, including, but not limited to:
- Breakthroughs in healing from trauma
- Decreased PTSD symptoms
- Increased capacity to manage emotions and access rational thought under stress
- Improved memory, self-reflection, and sense of self
- Cognitive and emotional integration, released trauma from the nervous system
- Enhanced self-awareness and insight
- Onboarded coping tools and skills to support effectively managing stress and anxiety
"It is no secret that our country is experiencing a sharp rise in mental illness, addiction, violence, and homelessness. What you may not know is, at the same time, there is an even greater cry for help. We are seeing record numbers of people who genuinely want to stop these cycles in their own lives and make sure their children never have to experience them. They are coming, and with your partnership, we will be ready to give them the help they so desperately want. " - Nancy Atchley, Executive Director
