$15,000 Goal

Feeding Pets of the Homeless received nonprofit status in July 2008 as a public charity.

We provide pet food and veterinary care to the homeless and less fortunate in local communities across the United States and a few in Canada.  The pet food is collected by our donation sites and then delivered to food banks, soup kitchens, homeless shelters and camps.

Accordingly, we have:

  • Provided over 2,088,000 lbs. of pet food which in turn is one less worry for a person experiencing homelessness on a given day.
  • Have over 1,750 veterinary hospitals in our network.
  • Paid over $4.6 million (after discounts) for veterinary care.

We sponsor veterinarians and other nonprofit organizations that meet our objectives of providing veterinary care to pets of the homeless whether through our Wellness Clinics or Emergency Veterinary Care.

And we provide pet sleeping crates to homeless shelters so the homeless can bring their pets in with them and receive social services.

There are 3.5 million homeless in America and more every day facing homelessness.

We estimate as many as 10-25% of those 3.5 million homeless have pets.

Many people are facing homelessness for many reasons and the situation is getting worse.

The need for pet food and veterinary care is at an all-time high.

Pets of the homeless are nonjudgmental, offer comfort, and provide an emotional bond of loyalty.  In some cases, they provide the homeless protection and keep them warm.  We believe in the healing power of pets and of the human/animal bond which is very important to life.  In some cases, the homeless survive with the daily love and responsibility of pet guardianship. The tragic part, the pets of the homeless sometimes suffer from illness or injury.  Our organization is important to the homeless that we serve.

Your donation will be used where it is most needed.

Mission

Feeding Pets of the Homeless® believes in the healing power of companion pets and of the human/animal bond, which is vital to the lives of many people experiencing homelessness. We harness the bond between animals and people and change their lives for the better by helping keep these pets safe, healthy, and together with their loving human caretakers. Assisting homeless guardians in maintaining their pets on the road prevents these much-loved family members from having to be relinquished to a potential high-kill animal shelter, a heartbreaking decision that many face. Our primary goal and purpose are to provide relief to people experiencing homelessness and their pets in the form of food, resources, emergency care and support.
