At NorCal Gift From the Heart, we believe no child should feel forgotten, especially during the hardest moments of their lives.

Each year, we mobilize schools and youth volunteers across Northern California to assemble thousands of Valentine kits filled with heartfelt, handmade messages for children in hospitals locally and throughout the United States. These are more than cards. They are reminders to a hospitalized child that someone cares, that they are seen, and that they matter.

Your donation helps us provide the supplies needed for schools to create these thoughtful Valentine messages and care packages. In addition to handmade valentines, we deliver toys and teen items to patients at Shriners Hospitals for Children as part of our Valentine outreach, bringing comfort and joy during a time that can feel isolating.

We also support teen parents who are committed to finishing their education by providing critical baby supplies such as diapers, wipes, clothing, and essentials that ease financial stress and help them stay focused on school. During the holidays, we sponsor families in need so that no child is left without gifts at Christmas.

In addition, your support helps us mentor teens in our community as student ambassadors. These young leaders gain public speaking skills, organizational experience, and hands-on training in philanthropy while serving others. We are not only meeting immediate needs. We are building the next generation of compassionate leaders.

When you give to NorCal Gift From the Heart, you are delivering dignity, encouragement, leadership, and hope.

Giving Activity

Mission

Our non-profit was created by high school students, Aislynne Hartman and Sophia Alonso, to meet the needs of fellow youth who are experiencing physical and mental health challenges, homelessness, and barriers to completing their high school education.

Needs

NorCal Gift From the Heart relies on community support to bring hope and encouragement to children facing serious medical challenges.

We need funding to assemble thousands of Valentine kits for schools and youth groups to create heartfelt, handmade messages for children in hospitals across Northern California and throughout the United States. Donations directly cover cardstock, art supplies, packaging materials, and delivery logistics so that every hospitalized child receives a message reminding them they are seen, supported, and not alone.

• $25 funds Valentine supplies for 50 children

• $50 sponsors a Valentine toy and teen gift bundle for a hospitalized patient

• $100 empowers an entire school to participate and send love to children in hospitals

• $250 helps us expand outreach to additional hospital units and teen patients

Your support also sustains our Student Ambassador program, where teens receive leadership training, public speaking experience, and hands-on philanthropic education while coordinating school participation and outreach. These young leaders are the heart of our mission, helping organize drives, mobilize peers, and ensure that every Valentine reaches a child in need.

When you give, you are not only uplifting children in hospitals. You are building compassionate leaders who are learning to serve their communities with purpose.

Every dollar delivers comfort, dignity, and hope.

Equity Statement

NorCal Gift From the Heart Foundation is committed to serving children, teens, and families with dignity, compassion, and fairness. We believe that every child, regardless of race, ethnicity, income level, family structure, gender identity, ability, or life circumstance, deserves to feel valued, supported, and seen.

Our programs intentionally prioritize underserved and vulnerable populations, including hospitalized children, teen parents working to complete their education, and families experiencing financial hardship. We work to remove barriers to participation by partnering with schools and community organizations across diverse communities throughout Northern California.

We are equally committed to empowering youth leaders from all backgrounds through our Student Ambassador program, providing mentorship, public speaking opportunities, and hands-on philanthropic experience. By investing in diverse young leaders, we help build a more inclusive and compassionate future.

Equity is not an afterthought in our work. It is central to our mission of ensuring that care, opportunity, and hope are accessible to all.

If you’d like, I can also create:

• A shorter 3–4 sentence version for BDOG fields with character limits

• A more data-driven version for grant applications

• A more direct DEI compliance version (sometimes required for public funding)

• A youth-focused equity version that emphasizes leadership development
