Ecological Communities Organization (eco) is a California non-profit corporation and federal 501(c)(3) with a vision:
Cities and suburbs more like gardens, farms, orchard, forests, meadows and wild, natural places.
We see the practical answer to all of society's deepest problems back on the farm and in the wild. We see the project of urban agrarian renaissance and rewilding as the answer to the greatest challenge of our times
And, because folks only ever willingly step outside of their bubble of comfort and transform their world when they see a better future that they desire, the project of building a better future is a challenge of aesthetics: an art beautiful sensory future-fiction is the only thing that can save us now.
Eco is a practical, utilitarian artwork. We started as Circle of Bees, an urban honeybee rescue, saving gentle swarms of city bees and finding then sanctuary in backyards. We still do that today! But we've expanded our vision. We now also support the Night Market, a restaurant food waste rescue and free distribution network. And we have bigger ideas and plans beyond that as well!

To radically and safely transform human habitats and lifestyles around principles of permaculture.
Eco is a project-based org: we seek funding for distinct local implementations as well as expansion of specific projects that support our mission. Currently these include the Circle of Bees Urban Swarm Capture Network project in Davis and it's expansion into Woodland and Sacramento, and the Night Market Fund in support of the Davis Night Market and plans to expand with a Sacramento Night Market.
